Probably the best 2 fluid choices for the NV3550...

Probably the best 2 fluid choices for the NV3550 would be Redline MTL and Royal purple synchromax. As stated by Woody, Pennzoil synchromesh will work as well and is what I currently have in my trans.

I'm assuming by your user name you have a 1997? The OP has a 2000 with a 4.0 which uses a NV3550 transmission. The drain plug on the NV3550 is a 17MM.

Your Jeep profile says you have 35's. If you can afford Currie buy it, if not, save up more. I bought new ZJ steering for my Jeep, it worked until I bent the drag link. No reason to spend twice.

Sounds like the transmission needs to be rebuilt. Your transfer case is fine and has nothing to do with the issues you're having.
