Held in with a zipper, they can be removed.
Not all softtops have them - I have one softtop with and one...

My TJ was built in March 97.
I find it hard to believe there were that many TJs built by March 97 - especially considering there were only about 660k TJs built in...

Disconnect the 2 heater hoses at the front of the engine - flush...

Disconnecting the battery will reset the ECU and clear codes - not sure how long it needs to be disconnected though.

I use the following method (from the FSM) - all done in a couple of minutes......
