Noise isn't bad at all. It's so easy to remove the crossbars that one person can do it in about 30 seconds. When I'm not using it to moe the kayak, I just take them off and noose is no different...

If you are willing to do the yakima roof rack (you can use the gutter mounts if you don't want to drill into your roof) you can use the awesome multi mount attachments to strap down your fishing...
