So according to what m998dna posted holding the button for 5 seconds is not going to totally disable it in 4H. The only way to full disable it is to be in 4L. Or am I not understanding it? Thanks.

You got that right, the best block heater is factory installed. I have one in my 88 E-150 which is now pushing 29 years old, no leaks and it still works.
