There's not much gain to be had wth the 4 cyl....you can get some small noticeable gains with free-flowing...

I'd be looking at the clutch master and slave cylinders. When these begin to fail, they cause the problem you describe.
Also, what year is your Jeep?

Why? It's the factory fill, and I can only guess that gear oil is thicker than needed for a t-case application.
