Hey thanks sparky! I will definitely do that. I want to avoid re-routing all that well placed wiring!

Regear

Hi senator. I was in the same situation as you are now deciding on regearing. I too started with a 3.73 rear and 35s. I do live in a mountainous area and the Jeep would struggle in the steeper areas,...

Changing lights using existing wiring

I currently have a pair of halogen 55W fog lamps on my front bumper, and a single halogen 55W flood lamp on my rear tire carrier mount. Both lights are on separate wiring systems and both wiring...

35s

I was in the exact same situation. I bought 33 Duratracs and felt like it wasn't enough. I sold those tires and bought 35 Duratracs and never looked back.

I did use a Procal and my speedometer is...

Using existing wiring when changing from halogen to LED lighting

Obviously I'm no electrician, so I must ask. Can you splice into existing wiring that currently operates a single 55W halogen light, and replace it with a LED light considering it has much less draw...

Laws vary by state

I have both tops and my hard top has the factory deep tint. I added legal just a shade lighter tint to the front driver and passenger windows. Looks good imo. I have been thinking of going darker all...

Did you regear with the 4.88s?

If so, how are you liking your jeep now?

Stock muffler covered by bumper to bumper?

I noticed my muffler was rotting away at the inlet and water was dripping from that same section and also the right side panel. Is this covered under warranty or is this a dang maintenance item?

I...

It is a Jeep!

You definitely have a real Jeep! I also have a JKU and people around here almost always wave regardless if it's a JK, JKU, TJ, CJ, etc. It also doesn't matter if the driver is male, female, young, or...

4.88s

With an auto, 3.8L, 35s, and consistent mountainous driving, you will be very happy with regearing to 4.88. It will perform so much better than 3.73s. It will be very noticeable. 5.13 May be to much...

Thx for sharing!

Those are great photos and looks like y'all had a blast! We didn't get to have a beach vacation this year, first time since I was little, so checking out your photos was a nice blast of salt air!

It worked

Moving the tailgate latch up did indeed stop most of the noise. It makes it so much more tolerable!

Thanks for the tip strmanglr and BigWreck!

Finally off

Since I finally have some time today, I'm going to work on eliminating the noise. I'm going to move my latch up first and see what happens. Also going to get one of my sons to drive it while I'm in...

I have 4.56 with my 13' JKU, auto, and 35s. The 4.56s work very well and I noticed a huge difference coming from 3.73s. However, after driving these gears for about a year, I could have easily gone...

Another vote for the 4.88s

I have a JKU, 35" Duratracs, auto, and 4.56 gears. If I would do it again, 4.88s would be my choice.

Thanks! I'll give that a try. It's driving me crazy trying to pinpoint the noise. I can hear it on the flattest road at 5mph or at 75 on a bumpy road. It doesn't get louder or worse on bumpy roads...

I have a similar noise

What is the rear loop latch? I've tighten or checked the tightness on just about everything and still get a rattling noise.

+1 on the 3.73s. It will perform much better with the 33s. Plus it is likely that once mod fever kicks in you may want to add 35s or other mods that add weight. Better to have more than not enough....
