trim your stock fenders into flat fenders, wheel...

trim your stock fenders into flat fenders, wheel spacers, add 35's... no other trimming required.... its easily done. Now on that note, if you take it off road I would not disconnect the sway bar...

Why do you say he'd need a new DS? I run a 3.5" as well as many others with absolutely no problems! I also have quite a few friends running 4" with no problems, but they keep an eye on theirs more...

I've been daily driving mine for about 7 months...

I've been daily driving mine for about 7 months now... 3.5" lift, 35's, and no problems. I go wheeling pretty often, usually atleast once a week and when I do, I push it!

The Jeep 4.7 V8 is the same block as the 3.8 v6... I can't imagine the swap would be terribly difficult. I have also thought about that and am seriously considering it as the Hemi is way over rated...
