I think the knocking is from top end not from bottom end. I pulled the pan anyway to check things out . Rods and mains are tight no hot spots. So maybe (I'm hoping anyway) I've got a lifter going...

Well thanks to those of you who replied. I do still hear a bit of a knock. I'd say I wore some bearings alittle from the coolant. Oh well... I'm gonna keep my eye on wrecked jeeps or very low priced...

Dirty little bastard. I pulled the fuel rail to do a leak test on injectors. I found the injector closet to cyl 1 had a big gash in it. I don't have my old oil rings either. Back to parts store....

I've never had that much trouble getting drums off before. I bunged up one of the star adjusters and ended up taking the axle out. Oops! Gotta wait on new adjusting kit. Then I'll take it for a test...
