Maybe you've discovered a telltale sign indicating a bad head. The temp gauge showing the needle past the halfway point may be a sign of an overheating problem. My '12 JKU runs cooler like your new...

It's probably the clutch. If you feather the clutch when backing up to control speed the clutch slippage causes a really awful burnt clutch smell. Mine did the same thing when reversing up a small...

Good point on the safety angle. It's not lick the 3.6L explodes or seizes. I guess the Feds don't see it as a safety problem. Sure is a mind game if you own one though.

I wonder how many '12 JK owners have NOT had a problem and have over 20k miles? This thread makes it seem like virtually all '12 JKs are having heads replaced. That just doesn't seem to be a...

Thanks for the report. I'm hoping that some of the 2102s aren't affected. Mu JKU Sahara with a 7/11 build date has 7,300 mi and no ticking but I see a bunch of reports of failure at 10,000 + miles....

Does anyone know of a higher mileage 2012 Wrangler (i.e. more than 30,000 miles) that has NOT had to have a head replaced? I'm curious if some Wranglers have dodged the bullet.
