I would probably judge it about $400/$280 respectively, as that is what I paid for mine.

To me, as someone who uses my headlights quite a bit, the money is negligible as the beam output on them...

If you are truly getting that sort of gain, it could be a number of other factors, maybe even a faulty factory airbox, 4mpg gain is a lot, especially for just a CAI.

I wonder why? Maybe it has something to do with the difference in weight, maybe the different suspension... possibly the tires, and more than likely something to do with the fact that one is a box...

I've driven 85mph for 4+ hours on I-10 with a 2dr and 4.10s and didn't have any problems except for my wallet not being deep enough.

The SAE eating is 285 horsepower at the crank. Drivetrain loss, especially on a vehicle like a jeep, significantly lowers that number.
