I've never had to repair mine. I have to thoroughly grease the centering ball on both driveshafts twice yearly to keep the angry sparrows quiet. Your driveshaft may just need a thorough lube job

Different sized tires would not impact your ability to shift the tcase lever. The shift lever is most likely damaged and either needs to be repaired or replaced with a Novak cable shifter.
