When I got my vehicle inspected recently, the inspector said the ball joints were bad and gave me a quote on replacing them. He also claimed that whenever ball joints are replaced, the vehicle needs...

I was working on replacing my ball joints today and noticed that there was dirt on the inside of the axle housing and on the axle shaft. Is there supposed to be some sort of seal? All I noticed on...

I got my 2004 Wrangler inspected today and found out the pitman arm needs replacing. Currently, I have a drop pitman arm, but I have heard that a stock pitman arm is better. My Wrangler has about a...

control arm ball joints

So I got my 2004 Wrangler inspected today and found out all 4 front control arm ball joints are bad. The mechanic wants $750 for the repair: about $250 for parts and about $500 for labor. Now I...

Measured from the frame and the shock absorber, and both yield the same results, so the disparity has to be coming from the axles shafts and not the axle housing.

So if the shaft is out of the vehicle, should the seal be able to move almost freely, or should it be...
