I had a 4.2 and it had a brass bushing installed for a pilot bushing. I swapped in a 98 4.0 and the same size bushing fit in the motor. So nothing changed in my case.

I must have missed something? You state that is an 89 with a 4.2 and replacing the ECM fixed it? The 4.2 was not computer controlled it only has an ignition control module that costs about $40.00....

Personaly I do not like the big stingers and had mine built with that in mind. In the case of a roll over it will save the radiator. For me that is what it is for....

Stay away for the 90's and down as they will have a 4.2 which runs a carb. You will like fuel injection better...
