Can't figure this one out. A rattle/tick is getting louder when accelerating between 2200-2400 rpm (may continue bit engine noise drowns it out above 2500?). Doesn't matter...

Do I need to take my engine to TDC in order to swap my opda sensor? Going to swap in the OEM one for the Doorman. Opda is good but Dorman sensors are suspect.

That's a fair amount of miles on the transmission, but if fixing it is cheap enough to dismiss replacing it with a used/reman. unit then all the better. It is a question of how long you are wanting...

Well, it's been a little over a year since I swapped in the Dorman unit. Wear looks alright and there was actually oil collecting at the top from the oil vapor, so lubrication shouldn't be an issue....

O'reilly's tested my starter for free. Ignition actuator pin may be the culprit too. If so you'll need a t-10 security bit (PITA to find one around here). Good luck and welcome to the forum.

About to install a Dorman and was wondering if anyone has racked up significant enough miles to measure results. Stock unit looks ok but want to be buried in my TJ someday.

I can see that, but there are always variations. If you already have significant damage the, yes you are in a hard way. If you have an 05 I also understand that the cam metal was also not hardened...

Bad idea even for a temp fix. WD is a solvent. Will break up rust and repel moisture but when it dries out it can be even worse than before. PB Blaster lubricant is cheaper and will hang on longer...
