Two years ago I bought a I6 98 hard top with a $500 Rough Country 4" lift and bushwacker flares with 160k miles for $7500. Otherwise stock.

It has 184k on it now and the engine is smooth as silk....

Yes. Not worth it to upgrade to a better axle. It'll either be to expensive (D60) or not enough of an upgrade (D44). Upgrading D30 is the most economical.

IMO.

I have Yukon Grizzly's front and rear (comparable to Detroit Lockers). I trussed my D30 and think it'll be fine. No noise on the street. Drives really good.

I was going to put in a 241OR and decided instead to put in an Atlas II 3.8. Easy to put in. Needed a longer rear driveshaft and shorter front driveshaft... $200 for both at a local drive shaft...
