Music management

I've heard stories of others not being able to play some of their purchased music as well. If I've paid for something I believe that I should be able to access it! That coupled with my iTunes getting...

MPG drop in a slight incline

Even "slight" upgrades will send the MPG south. As long as you are level the MPG is actually pretty good with some finesse. However, that is negated at even a modest incline. A "real time" indicator...

Winch capacity

Many say a good rule of thumb is for the winch capacity to be around one and one half times the vehicles weight. That being said there are different "pulls" required for different situations. For...

430 Head unit

A couple of thing to keep in mind with the 430N unit.

The USB connection on the front of the radio is for uploading data into the unit and NOT for controlling an ipod (however this port can be...

Fuel capacity JK vs JKU

The fuel tank on both the JK and the JKU occupies the passenger side area between the drive line and the frame. It begins just after the transfer case and stops just prior to the rear axle. Since the...

Breadcrumb trails 730N vs 430N

Only the 730N has the ability to store breadcrumb trails(ten trails max). The 430N breadcrumb trail is either on or off with no ability to store. However, the 730N will not allow you to upload your...

Mojave Road

Took three days and two nights to do the Mojave Road with a small group in March 2012 and loved it. I want to do it again. The weather is best around March/April & October or so. Summers can get...

Navigation units

The 730N is considered by Jeep to be their "premier" system......and they make you pay for it. The 730N will do things like split screen and also has a single screen that gives you a map, elevation,...

Seat belt gets caught

Not only does it sometimes get caught when closing the door, but occasionally the part that inserts into the seat belt latch falls in such a way as to insert itself into to the door loop(aka bottle...

430N & 730N waypoints

I'm not sure there is enough interest out there to justify doing a "sticky" or not. Note that adding custom waypoints will only work on the 430N.

I liked the 730N that was in my 2011 Sport KJU...

Manual vs automatic

Had a 2011 JKU Sport manual with 60000 miles no problem. I now have a 2013 Rubicon manual with almost 40000 miles also with no problems at all.

In the past I have been stranded two times due to...

My first JKU was a 2011 Sport and I drove it over 60,000 miles and never replaced the windshield.

I am now on my 2nd JKU, a 2013 Rubicon 10A. I have almost 40,000 miles on it have have never...

VOLT meter use

A voltage gauge is pretty important to me.

I use accessories while NOT driving (ie ham radio for public service events such as car rallys, bicycle races, walkathons, and Baker 2 'Vegas). I need...

Flutter

The latches are all the same. The difference in hood aerodynamics is not enough to avoid flutter. So yes, the hoods do flutter unless, or until, the hood latches are upgraded

Custom poi's

I have had both 730N and 430N. I have loaded around two dozen trails and almost 550 waypoints into my 430N.

10A height vs Rubicon height

The springs on the 10A raise the body approx 1" higher from axle to body. However, the standard Rubicon tires are 255/75/17 which calc to 32.059 height but the 10A has slightly smaller diameter...

That "BURNS" me up!

I know the feeling. When I was younger, my car had a flat tire a short way out of town on a main, but lightly traveled, road. Earlier the same day I had taken the spare out as I needed the extra room...

430N vs 730N

In my 2011 Sport I upgraded from a 130 to a 730N and now, in my 2013 10A Rubicon, I have a 430N. Both have their advantage. I have not noticed speed issues with my 430N so I'm wondering what is slow...

MPG history

Interesting. Do you, or anyone else for that matter, know how to access this saved history? When I reset one or the other I have not noticed any difference between the two resets.

Spare tire rotation

The purpose of tire rotation is to share the tire tread wear of the five tires across the four tires mounted on the vehicle. This means that each tire takes a turn at being at "rest" (the spare) and...
