Just be easy on the skinny pedal. With the d35 and 4.88 gears only one tooth on the pinion gear is engaged at a time. That's your weak point now, the ring and pinion instead of the shafts.

Typically, I would expect a regear to run around 1000-1200. The fact that you have to replace carriers since you are below the break will add some cost, but over three grand to regear is ludacris.

Next time it rains, let it rain for a while then take off your cowl. If there is a pool of water then you've figured out your problem. Or just clear out the drain and see if you get water inside...

Yes, that is way over-priced if all you're doing is having them put in new gears. I regeared and had an ARB air locker put inmy front differential for right around $2400.
