if it's hooked up properly, you should be fine to drive once you put the key in and turn it to ON. If you hit the brake pedal without putting the key in, the engine should shut off.

I have a 2013 with stock nav and I noticed that when I go from radio to nav, it would take about a minute for the nav screen to pop up sometimes. Today, I did it and it took about 7 minutes for it...
