Different sized tires would not impact your ability to shift the tcase lever. The shift lever is most likely damaged and either needs to be repaired or replaced with a Novak cable shifter.

35s will be way out of your price range considering all of the additional required upgrades. 33s with 4.56 gears is what you want. I have experience with 33s and 4.10s and it was barely tolerable....
