If you're lucky the PO may have left the gear tag on the differential. It's a metal tag under one of the bolts and will have the gear number on it.

Why couldn't you cap off the cooler lines till you got the new rad? You don't "need" a tranny cooler for the short time between changing the rad, and no crap could get into the tranny with plugs in.
