That's the way I'd go. If you can do the gear swap yourself then leaving the d30 alone otherwise would be cheap. Is it a daily driver or just a toy? If it's a toy you could just weld the front diff....

What motor and tires are you planning on running? Up to 35's with either stock Jeep motor I'd leave the front alone, but upgrade the rear to d44 or 8.8. Up to 38's or with a V8 I'd do d44 up front...

i would go with the 2.5" lift and 31's for now. if you want more lift later on a spring over axle conversion is the way to go. any more than 2.5" sprng lift and the springs are going to have too...
