Yeah I was affraid it might have came loose in there some how. Really didn't want to pull it out again. I heard it from right under the tank though, not fron inside.

Yes, same problem. With the new pump installed, I can turn the key on and the pump runs for maybe two seconds ( I can here it vibrating in there) then it just stops.

Yeah, wouldn't start unless I sprayed starting fluid into the throttle body. The it would die when I stopped spraying. All fuses and relays were good.

Replaced the fuel pump now what?

So I replaced the fuel pump on the 01 tj 6cyl. We replaced just the pump and not the whole assembly. Put it back together and it ran down the block and back. Parked it overnight and now it wont start...

Did you check the selector knob on the right side...

Did you check the selector knob on the right side and see if it is broken where it slides over the actual control. When I bought my jeep it was broke and doing the same thing.

My dads did the same thing. His is an 01 with a 4.0. Cleaned the throttle body and sensor. Worked like a charm. But make sure to let the parts completely dry before reinstalling them. It runs better...
