The BFGs are very nice on-road, and they handle snow like it is no one else's business. We get a lot of snow in Vermont, so I have first hand experience...but I'm guessing that you don't get a lot of snow + ice where you live.

The BFGs are going to give you around 50-60K miles. They do alright in anything except mud. The tread is not deep enough OR open enough for them to self-clean and they will gum up very quickly. If you drive a lot of mudding or wheel in areas that get a lot of rain I would look for a different tire. They are great for what they are designed for. The question you should ask is are they the tire made for what you will be wheeling in.
