As said above, that the OP has a Sport is no indication it has a Dana 44 or a Dana 35c... the Dana 44 was an option, not a standard thing. The only two models of Wranglers that always come standard with a Dana 44 is the Unlimited and Rubicon.

The first axle is a Dana 35c, it has the oval cover. The second axle with the stopsign-shaped cover is a Dana 44.

When you have a choice, buy American.

I have a jeep wrangler sport 1999. It has a 3.73 rear gear ratio. How can I tell if I have an open or lock differential with the differential out of the jeep.

You have the carrier out of the diff?

License to kill gophers by the government of the United Nations. Man, free to kill gophers at will. To kill, you must know your enemy, and in this case my enemy is a varmint. And a varmint will never quit - ever. They're like the Viet Cong - Varmint Cong. So you have to fall back on superior intelligence and superior firepower. And that's all she wrote.
