2020 JLU Willys - Dead already

Hey Everybody, 454 miles and my baby has been in the shop for almost a week already.

Driving and it just up and died, now leading up to it around 200 miles or so the battery light came on, I stopped and restarted a few times after that but never got a warning light.

Then when driving to the airport it just dies in the middle of the exit ramp.

Essentially the Service Manager is 99.9% certain that the two batteries are bad, he reached out to Chrysler and they found something in the series that have been reporting bad batteries, to the tune (so much) that the batteries are backordered for another four days.

Hoping this is the end of the issues, excited to be rolling in the 4-Banger turbo model here again soon.

Anybody else run into this?

not yet, but I do pay attention to the voltage trends in the center cluster display. I noticed that the voltage stays at 14.5ish for a few hours of driving (idle and under acceleration) if I haven't used it for a few days. after a few hours of driving, the voltage stays at 12.6ish (idle and while coasting to a stop). I assume this means it's fully charged. and when it no longer settles below 13 after use, I'll take that as my cue to replace the batteries.

Our 2020 Willys did something similar. At 600 miles we had two codes. Took to autoZone and it had to do with an oil sensor. My wife was leaving town and drove to 1000 miles and lost power on the highway coming back from a trip. Made it back home and went straight to the dealer. 3 weeks, they had it. Seems to be doing well now.

Does anyone know what happened to the OP?

There’s another forum member having a similar issue with his brand-new 2019 JL.

Ground Strap

It was indeed the Ground Strap Issue.

They could have looked at that first instead of waiting for battery but oh well, it's a dealership, it's what I expected.

Sorry it took so long to reply, I had to find time to reset password and stuff.
