Standard JL Lighting VS JK, LED Option

For those that have moved to a JL, are the standard head/fog lights superior to the terrible ones that have plagued JKs for years? Curious how they compare.

Also curious how the JL LED factory option improves things from there, since it's a pricey option.

Discuss.

I like the new JL LED headlights, they're super bright and the DRL round leds are amazing. Wondering if we can install these on your JK.

From what I've read, the JL lamps are larger, so they won't fit the JK. No matter to me anyway, I have TruckLites in my JK.

I just want to know 1) if the standard JL lights suck as much as the JK units did, and 2) if the LED option for the JL is a worthwhile upgrade versus aftermarket.

Thinking ahead, in the event I ever go JL....

The JL lights are still 7 round. I measured 🤪. They are deeper, so the housing is longer. There will be adapters from what Ive heard to fit aftermarket 7 headlights

I have the standard headlamps and they miles ahead of the JK stock lamps. Must be that deeper reflector housing. I had a Renegade rental and they seem to be the same exact lamps.

They are better than the JK, but still bad compared to the LED's. I'd still upgrade or get some Mopar cube lights!

I still wonder how the LED's can be an option in any place where it snows, since LED's do NOT emit enough heat to melt it, once it accumulates on the lenses. I had TruckLites on my JK and I ran into issues with the snow in Western NY several times each year. Otherwise, I absolutely LOVED them and the light output. I would strongly suggest AGAINST the very expensive LED package in northern climates, unless you plan on replacing the headlights with the heated element TL's. Just my $.02

My KC LEDs generated enough heat to not be a problem. My family lives in Western NY. I added halogen driver lights encase there was any issues, but never had any. Just got back from Arcade, NY where my mom lives.

The last 2 years of JKs had a LED headlight/fog light option that is pretty decent.
Not sure I would spend the money on the JL LED when there are several quality aftermarket LEDs for the JK like JW Speaker, Trucklight and Procomp.
