Buying advice for an excited noob. Pls help!

So I saw a blacked-out Wrangler with widened fender flares and big, fat off-road tyres and was like

I currently drive a boring sedan and am seriously considering making the switch so I can have some serious fun

If I were to buy a stock Wrangler Sport, what would I need to do to bring it up to spec? And also, what would be the common pitfalls to avoid when buying used?

I'm new here, so please don't hold back from giving any advice at all, no matter how obvious you think it might be.

Thanks!

PS I'm from Melbourne.

Hmm maybe I'm asking the wrong questions.

Would it be simpler to ask, can anyone recommend an aftermarket workshop in Melbourne that specialises in Wranglers?

Are you looking at TJ or JK? Like I always say buy what you want and go out till you get stuck..... then decide why you got stuck then find a mod to solve it, then repeat. I run a stock 02 with 31" muddies and no lift yet as the trails I seem to do I haven't had any fender rub YET and I have a winch as I like to go alone with my small child
