Product reviews

OK, since moving to Australia I have found north American stuff to be a bit expensive, which since getting my jeep has taken me to Ebay in a quest for decent price/decent product. compound the fact I am A TJ owner (anything on Ebay seems JK only anymore) ....So why don't we on here share what aftermarket goodies we have on our rigs (prices, Links, review) so If I buy an absolute piece of garbage on Ebay no one else falls for it on here, Lets help each other out

So to start I recently drank the kool aid and went 50 inch light bar across the top (50 Inch 300W Epistar LED Light BAR Spot Flood Driving 4WD Work 4x4 Truck Caravan | eBay which I then needed a bracket Windshield Mounting Brackets 50" Straight Light BAR FOR Jeep Wrangler TJ 97 06 | eBay? the brackets are average at best, the post says "uses factory bolts" which no it doesn't unless you drill them a bit to handle the counter sunk heads, and then I never got the front bolts to work as the bracket isn't close enough to the thread, so instead of going with longer bolts I just skipped them, There was a lot of flexing the bracket/bending/swearing to get the 50 inch light in. There is no provision for hiding the wires I striped the cable down to its inner cores to hide them in the foam buffer between bracket and body work.
The Light is bright, but is older LED style so taller then I thought. I wanted to go bigger Watt wise but the next jump up was 600Watt which if you do the math means pretty big wires (even at 300 Watt with this light the wire in under sized in my understanding) it came with a relay fuse and switch all wired in a pre made harness all sealed up(40 amp relay and 30 amp fuse) I threw the switch away(well gave to my two year old as a toy ) and use my high beams to turn on the relay.

I am happy with the overall project, but mostly due to price, I feel I got a fair price on what I got That being said the brackets I give a 5 out of 10 I had to drill them and flex them and still not use all the bolts, but rice wise they paid off but only because no one else bid on them( they where the only things that came up for a TJ on ebay and once you found the reserve it was smooth sailing but I would not go in a bidding war for them just wait the few days and start again).... The light I would say 7 out of 10 again I got what I paid for it just seems fatter then I thought it would be (its older style I think) maybe Bang for my Buck I should have went more watts but like I said I am a bit dubious about the wire size they supply for 600 watts of lights at 12 volt
Hope this helps if your looking gear

This set up has resulted in a whistle at 60kmh and up very annoying. Don't know if its the light or bracket but loud and annoying

Been a while, well after a bit of searching I found a winch plate on ebay with decent shipping rates, all bolted on well, I got a winch from Sherpa 4x4 of course after I had bout the mounting plate And I found they had a 12000lb set up on sale for what I had priced out a 9000lb set up.
seems good quality bolt pattern matched up, only problem I had was mounting the rope guide, the holes all lined up just the winch body is right up against the bolt holes, so I ended up welding the bolts on and then I could install the guide. I give the Sherpa folks 8.5 out of ten......well so far, I will need to winch myself somewhere to give a real rate

I'm just getting my first JK wrangler this week and this is one of the first things I want to get. Are they hard to install? How long did it take?

Not hard, trying to keep the wires all tidy and hiding them is what took forever, part of the wire harness was just long enough so a few trail routes where tried,I soldered the yellow "trigger wire" into the turn signals and I suck at soldering, so probably around 3hrs, thats on my TJ
