Lil' bronc

I've had this for a little while...not a jeep, so I haven't posted on it, but......

1984 Ford Bronco II...2.8L v6 5speed 4x4
New carb (2150 Motorcraft)
Coverted the ignition system to a MOTORCRAFT DURASPARK II, it had some crazy smog pump consoles injection and ignition system...from what I've read on other forums the Motorcraft carb is good for about 60hp....I can't tell the differnce....the 2.8 v6 is a turd....it's the venerable "Pinto" motor....still a turd....trading her off on Friday....for another Ford....

Rusty Knutt has ENTERED the building!

Guess who's back? Back Again! Rusty's back! Back with a VENGEANCE!!!

It's been a long minute...
Many updates...
1987 Comanche: Project Jumping Jackass
Major overhaul, everything except a head gasket and deeper...runs like a top!
1993 Cherokee: Project Singing Stallion
Major overhaul, same as Jackass...sounds like a Singer sewing machine, thus the name.
1997 Grand Cherokee Laredo: Project Major Mule
Major overhaul, same as other two, but including a new programmable ECM!

Mule received new treadwright tires. I recommend Treadwright.com!!!! I put 4 new remolds(235/75/15) on it for 303 and change plus mount and balance(which only cost me 10 a tire).
I've run Treadwright s for damn near 20 years...never had an issue! Knock on wood!!!
I have a set of their CLAW IIs on the rear of my dually, over 60k of HARD MILES in ALL on and off road conditions!!!!! I'm talking pavement, gravel, dirt, mud, snow, ice, wet grass, sand, any I'm sure I've forgotten somethings.....I'm running the 305/85/17 (32s)10ply, I adjust pressure accordingly, but they still have about 20% left, I am going to get a new set for the Chevy and the old shoes are going on Jackass!

I have lifts selected for each of the three, going with Rusty's Off-road out of Rainbow City Alabama! Not just for namesake's(although it is a small factor.)

Budget ZJ,
3" XJ,
5.5" MJ with 7" coils and lift hangers in the rear(they probably will do a custom kit but I plan to have the cash before I call!)

All trucks will have adjustable air shocks in the rear, with new front long travel dampers.

ZJ stays stock as possible, it's for my Right hand Man, Mr Chris Jones, he's 5' tall, so his ability to get out without hurting his back is the major factor, he can climb up anything(pretty sure his daddy was a chimpanzee)

XJ gets ONETON steering components and a 8.8 rear with a limited slip(at least) but I'm considering a locker or spool(burn that bridge when I get there) It's for Slim, my head Carpenter.

The MJ, well although it's my Mini-me's, I'm gonna drive it to keep miles off the Duramax...and by the time I'm done it's going to be One Badass Jackass(I smell a window sticker!) I have a 4.10 8.8 ordered for it, planning on going 35s(possibly 37s).

All three will have Aluminum front bumpers with tied in structural ladderracks(read EXOCAGES) WE ARE CARPENTRY EXPERTS!!!! OUR RIDES REFLECT OUR WORK.

MULE gets an Olive Drab Camo paint job, star and bars on the hood(Major, remember?) And a new OLD Georgia flag headliner, new headlight and marker lens kit(with LEDs)...it already has a limited slip differential!

STALLION stays white, gets new LED headlights and LEDs all around. 3.73 gear sets, Ox locker front pumpkin stuffer, and the 8.8 rear.

JACKASS goes grey and gets the Crucifix de la Burrita(look it up it's a real thing)

All three get decent stereos, and CBs, probably scanners too.

Well it's early on Friday, the first day of the week for OLIVER CONCEPTS LLC. I have a 730 with a client and her husband, so I hope you enjoyed the read!!!!

SELECTIVE PICTURES TO FOLLOW, I'll have links to a bunch of photos and videos.....

Later Gators!!!!!!

If I had the funds to do so, yes it would DaddyJeep!!!

The Cherokee is now reliable!
So is the Comanche, it needs a tag and insurance.
The Grand Cherokee is currently in the hospital...needs a radiator and crank position sensor...

Tires will be ordered on Friday...plan on picking up the lifts in two weeks...

Stereo systems are paid for...

Looking at CBs and Short Waves...

One ton steering is ordered for Cherokee, as is the rear airshock kit.

8.8s are ordered from the scrap yard.

Picked up a gallon of Olive Drab flat oil, and a gallon of Battleship Grey...

I could have worked on the Grand Cherokee all weekend, but I went fishin' instead. Priorities!!!

Hey Fellas!

Well, I've been through the ringer this past year. Divorced, sold the house as a result. Sold all my toys, Comanche, Grand Cherokee, Cherokee. Got out from under the steep payment of my 3500 Duramax. Starting over, once again.....

I picked up a 2000 TJ for a daily, Its got some issues, but nothing I cant work through. I plan on doing the routine maintenance, plugs wires cap rotor filters, I've got the Surge under acceleration, so I will be replacing the fuel pump, o2 sensor, TPS, cleaning the throttle body and cleaning all electrical connections. Praying one of those fixes the problem. I also have the dreaded death wobble at speed. So I will be replacing the tie-rod ends and steering stabilizer....

Once shes running like a top I plan to drive her for the summer and fall as she is....30x9.50x15s is her only current upgrade.

Come this winter I plan to buy myself a lift and 35s. Build a couple bumpers, some rock rails....

Anybody have any experience with the RUSTY'S OFF-ROAD 5.5" Advanced kit?

Well, sorry to hear about all that. Glad you are back and am moving forward. That is all you can do. You can't change the past.

SO my bucking issue was the fuel pump, put in a Delphi from Napa, LIFETIME WARRANTY!
So glad it was an easy fix. I had it Dropped, Swapped, and Installed in under an hour.

I was able to inspect the rust a little more in depth yesterday as well...

Someone, through the years, has used an inferior undercoating, or at least didn't get great coverage, it has allowed rust to set in on the frame and control arms, the frame is all surface rust. It will be a weekend of a five-in-one and wire brush in the near future.
The control arms are a different story, They have some pitting which I am not real comfortable with, time for an replacement, might as well lift it sooner than I had planned. I really like the Rusty's Off-road 5.5 advanced kit as it seems to have all needed components. It uses factory style rubber bushings, I wish I could find reviews on it other than their website...

ANYONE?

Well, I have been finding more and more issues, some small some not so small.

Put in a Melling high volume oil pump and new sending unit.... at idle I have no pressure, none, zero.... it doesn't rattle but it scares me. I ordered a Bosch mechanical gauge and copper line( I learned my lesson about the vinyl line on the Comanche, that SUCKED!)

Put the Transfer case in 4hi yesterday, it engaged but the shift linkage snapped! I had to remove the linkage and flip the selector by hand, ugh. I ordered the Teraflex shift linkage. Might as well upgrade since I will be lifting it anyway.

My rear U joints are dry and have a bit of play, I shot them full of grease for the time being and ordered a full set of joints from Amazon.

When I changed the oil pump I had to cut the exhaust in front of the skid plate because the union was rusted solid, since the muffler rattled and sounded like the guts were about to let go, I replaced it with a Flowmaster. I'm happy with that.

Half my dash lights are burnt out. I had some 194 LEDs, took the cluster out only to find I had the wrong bulbs. SMH!

The right rear drum was dragging, so I took it off to inspect.... the glued pad of the rear shoe had almost completely detached......so now I have new RIVETED shoes on the rear....

Wednesday afternoon my lower radiator hose ruptured after a short drive... I replaced both hoses in the Tractor Supply Parking lot, THANK GOD that Napa delivers....

I tightened a line that was slowly leaking at the power steering return...

I charged the AC only to find it needs new o-rings on all fittings....Its almost 100 the past week here in Georgia....

And then this morning my wipers quit when I turned them on to clear the morning dew, not sure if its the switch or the motor, fuse is good.

People ask why we do this SHIT. They just don't get that riding topless, sans doors, is one of the most liberating feelings One can experience.

SAY IT WITH ME!

Well, I took my daughter and her friend to Pensacola this past weekend in the Jeep...
Her name is ROSA AMARILLA, It went without incident, but only because I was prepared!
I bought a HUSKY tool set at the Depot for dedicated use on the new daily/toy. I mapped our route so I would be in close proximity to auto parts stores...LOL!!!

A five hour drive isn't as much fun when you have two teenagers whining about their hair being knotted up by the wind....Hey, I offered to braid it for them! They didn't want to do that, so they had to deal with a couple rats nests.

I still haven't figured out the wiper situation, then again, I haven't even looked at it...
It is supposed to rain this week, so I will be exploring it tonight.

I installed a set of CJ style mirrors for doors off riding. Whistle? They scream like a banshee!!! Shake? Like an alcoholic on day three with no drink!!! Make me legal? ABSOLUTELY!!!

I was good on the beach, wearing SPF70 with multiple applications.
What I forgot was to apply on the way home, My legs are lobster-ed!

The TERAFLEX TC shift kit is supposed to come today. I'll be installing that tomorrow evening.
