1998 tj

Hey Ya'll,
My name is Stephen, I'm new at this whole forum thing but I think it's neat how I can read up on people's opinions on different parts and how to break down stuff.
About my Jeep: Her name is Brenda, she's a black 98' sahara wrangler. She's pretty much stock, but that's all about to change. I have 35's BFG's and saving up for a Rough Country 4 inch lift. Tube fenders, tub rails, rock sliders to come. Her ultimate goal would just to be a fun loving, trail riding, camping and fishing jeep. Maybe add in there that I want her to be an expeditious rig, with winch, cargo top, jerry cans and all.
Well thanks for your time, I hope to get to know some of you, and I enjoy reading your posts.

Welcome! My 98 is a pain in the butt, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

Hey Peppers! thanks for the welcome! I'm glad I found this site. I read your profile and I saw you were running a hard wire to your cigarette lighter. How does that work? Daisy is a beauty. take care and have a great day.

Hey there whiteYJ, thanks for the warm welcome. I noticed on your profile that you had the Tuffy radio console, how do you like it? I was thinking about getting my HAM radio set up with the tuffy radio console. Sweet ride buddy. Take care, have a great week!

Ageless! thanks man for the greeting, Barbie sure does look good over the wooded terrain. I especially like the photo of her with the woods and the lake background. KY isn't that far from where I'm from. I'm down in Roanoke, Va. but stationed here in San Diego for another couple of months. Cheers to a good time.

Hey there Barrie in Utah! thanks for the warm welcome. First Unlimited to respond to my thread. I like the extra space in the unlimited's, but I dunno if that's me. How do you like it? Is she rigged up for expedition or trailing? Again thanks for the warm welcome friend. Take care and ride on!

First thing its pEEpers, not pePPers...
Although your not the first nor the last I would assume to make that mistake. think like the easter peeps (the little marshmellow things) with an er on the end... I take no offence nor mean any for pointing this out.

As for the cigarette lighter, its relativly simple if you've wired anything else up. you run a fused wire from the battery into the cab, with the fuse near the battery. then you pull apart your dash and figure out which wire is the power wire for the cig lighter (mine only worked when the key was on... took me 2 weeks to figure that out... ). I used a voltmeter and a known ground. Once you find that wire, cut it a few inches away from the back of the lighter and tape the jeep side up so you don't have an exposed wire to short out. Then attach the new wire you just ran into the cab to the tail on the lighter.

Presto! Always hot cig Lighter!

Welcome! Mine's a '99 Sahara in black and I just started upgrading him (his name is Edmund )

Have fun with the upgrades! I'm already thinking it'd just be easier to glue the money to the jeep...only that wouldn't do much for off road performance I'm afraid.
