87 Wrangler - Hard Top Problem with Fit?

Hey everyone, just new to the forum - any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just picked up a used 87 wrangler and have been looking on craigs list for a used hard top. Found one an hour away, took the drive, and it was an ACME hardtop that the seller claimed he has used on his same 87 wrangler.

When we tried to put it on, it didnt fit at all. We got the back lined up, however it wouldnt come close to fitting or sealing right on the top windshield. We were both scratching our heads at how this would not fit - not even close. I tired to attach a picture. This is the view from the passenger side, when the back appears flush and gradually elevated up slope to where it rode on top of the windshield.

He had his 87 in the garage, with his new top installed and it looked the same - the rollbars into the windshield appeared to look same size, dimensions, etc.

Any ideas? I read another post on this forum where someone thought that their tub may not have been properly square and this could cause it not to fit? As we struggled with it, neither of us could figure it out - other than perhaps the hard top was warped somehow from sitting outside in the sun for months / year.

Any ideas? This is the picture from the front..
