91 Renegade owner in Texas.

Hey folks, new Jeep owner here. I just bought a 1991 Wrangler Renegade (YJ right?) two weeks ago for a commuter and am learning as much as I can about it. So far it's fun. 4.0 straight 6 and a five speed tranny is getting me 18mpg on the first tank so far. Soft top and soft doors make it noisy but the (old) pull out radio and speaker bar in it help cut the wind noise. Clutch is mooshy, so are the brakes so I need to address those things. Just noticed this morning that there isn't a single bushing in any of the leaf springs and one of the springs is bent so time to replace some of that as well. Was less than please to find out that it's been repainted (original color) and who ever did it decided to spray over the top of some rusty pieces so I need to replace those as well. (LOL now I know where the Just Empty Every Pocket joke came from, no offense intended). To be honest I really should have done more research on what to look for on these things before I bought it and I probably got taken by the seller but my 4 year old 100% fell in love with it so it had to come home with us.

I'm sure I'll have tons of questions and need help getting things fixed but so far this little rig is much much more fun than the 96 1 ton Ford I sold to buy it.

Welcome fellow Texan!!! I'm right down the road in San Antonio. It's not about the money spent, its about the memories created. (at least that's what I keep telling my wife and it's working so far)
