93 wrangler paint

Greetings. I got my 93 YJ I4 three years ago. Didn’t even make it home on day one. I’ve rebuilt it, mechanically. Replaced the fuel system, ignition system, exhaust system, alternator, main wiring, axle, reinforced the frame with 1/4” plate steel, bumper, etc.

So it’s time to do the body. I’ve got new decals, replacing the fenders, LH body panel, and windshield (glass and frame). Also painting the body white, with clear coat and rhino lining the tub.

Beings as how I’ve never actually painted a car before, does anyone have some thoughts?

Been on here a while, just don’t say much. So this is also my introduction.

Blue Baby Sound likes this.

Because this is the newbie check-in area, you may not get the answers you are looking for. I suggest you check out the YJ forum area and post your questions there, I think you'll get a better response.

There's a bunch of threads in the YJ forum pertaining to paint.
The forum search engine is pretty basic. If you use it at all, I suggest searching using only one word. In your case "paint". You'll get a bunch of unnecessary hits, so you'll have to wade through those to find any real help.
If you Google a term like "Paint Wrangler" you might have better results. UTUBE will have more videos than you'll care to watch. Use common sense while reviewing posts and videos and you should be fine.

As a retired body shop owner, my best advice is to sand the Jeep so that there isn't a speck of shiny old paint anywhere that you plan to apply new paint. That and clean, clean, clean.

Good Luck, L.M.

Welcome to the forum! And... the YJ owner's club! Mine died first day driving it as well. In terms of paint, would use the forum search function or YouTube
