Post 93 YJ engine swap 4-6-8Cyl

Hey, i am new to this forums stuff and this is my first post. This is my first car and i am getting my license in sep. 2010. And i had the shifting down the first day!! Was Stoked

I have a 1993 Jeep Wrangler Yj its a 2.5L 4 Cyl engine. Manual
My dad can get me a deal on a Brand new ATK engine with a warranty and i wanted to know...
- What would have to be replaced?
- What is the difficulty on a project like this ?
- If anyone has any pictures or tips/Parts list that i would need?
- And if was going to get a new engine...What would be reccomended...
going back to the 4Cyl, Moving up to the 6Cyl, or the 8Cyl? And what would be the difference in the installations?

And lastly on the resale would the v8 be worth doing, would i make more money off of putting a 6 or 8 in? I would really like to put a 8 Cyl in but idk if my dad would go for that, unless it had some sort of benefit in resale or something else.

Thanks, Gavin

Well, welcome to the forum and you're gonna love this jeep, I'm 17 got a 94 YJ as my first vehicle, man I love it, i have the 4.0L I6 engine and it's got quite a bit of power I think, I've driven a TJ with the 4cyl engine and it def lacks in power.

I would say if you can get a v8 and get it installed right and running perfect do it but it's going to cost you some $$

Yah if i was going to do the engine swap me and my dad and maybe some other people would help out in doing it because i know the cost of labor these days are a bitch. But if i went for the v8 instead of the v6 wouldn't i need to replace more parts than just putting in a v6. or would they both need the same parts. Axels, mounts, all that good stuff

your 4cyl jeep will need to change just about the same amount of things to go from a 6 to an 8 unfortunately... altho that strengthens your v8 argument ... honestly your best option is prolly sell the 4 and get a 6 to mod from there or you will spend way more in time and money then you would on buying a 6 and selling the 4... btw i have a v8 and its pretty sweet so if you can its something to look into... lots of fun
