Arizona checking in

Moderately old Jeeper (well, alright, I'm 65. Oh wait, you mean how long I've been running a Jeep ) who got his first Wrangler in '95. Now running a 2010 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited (Mountain Edition).

Yes, I'm one of those strange people that name my Jeep. In this case, the name is Ares due to the color. Mango Tango is very close to the color of the sands of Mars (see NASA photos for reference). Ares is the Greek equivalent (Mars is the Roman God of War. Ares is the Greek God of blood-lust and slaughter).

The photo (avatar and a larger version in my profile) shows that it's been off-road, in this case at a Jeep Jamboree put on by the dealership. Trails were approximately 2-3 (meant for stock machines), but challenging enough for less experienced off-road drivers and fun for all. The landscape is typical wild Valley of the Sun Sonora desert in South Central Arizona.

Exclamation Addendum to checking in

Should anyone be interested, I have videos of some of the off-road part of the Jeep Jamboree available: . The order of the videos is
  1. On the way
  2. Over the top
  3. Rolling over rolling hills
  4. Several more hills
None of the videos is particularly long. NOTE: Over the top was a heck of a break-over, and the Jeep high-pointed resulting in minor scratching of the skid plate. Part of the reason that I removed the sound and added the music. Both videos and music are under Creative Commons license. Music credits are listed in the videos and in the notes.

License to kill gophers by the government of the United Nations. Man, free to kill gophers at will. To kill, you must know your enemy, and in this case my enemy is a varmint. And a varmint will never quit - ever. They're like the Viet Cong - Varmint Cong. So you have to fall back on superior intelligence and superior firepower. And that's all she wrote.
