Chicagoland Rio Grande

Hello everyone just joined the forum today
Not new to forums but I am to this one

I have myself a 1995 Rio Grande that I obtained for the astonishing price of: A case of Old Style

My uncle bought the Rio brand new off the lot. He took a lot of time to take care of it cosmetically. Washes every Saturday and waxed once a month. Kept up with the soft top even replaced it as well as the carpeting.

He retired to AZ and gave it to me for a case of beer. lol.

I'll make a separate thread with more details

Hello Again!

Thanks!

yeah Old Style is a beer brewed in the Midwest. It is a "cheaper" beer but my dad and uncle have been drinking it as long as I can remember.

It was more of a hassle than it was worth, for him, to take the Jeep with so he gave it to me. Wouldn't take money so I bought him that.

They don't sell it in Arizona so I send him a case from time to time

He did do a pretty good job. There are a few spots here and there but nothing terrible.
I think I'm going to pull the carpet and herculine it. The inside of the Rios have waayyy too much spice

I did have to have the front driver's side frame repaired. Where the steering box connects to the frame. Luckily I knew a guy who knew a guy type of deal occurred and I got a good price on it.

Also the underside didn't get as much love as the rest did!
But that's why I'm in the process of sanding/priming/painting all of it. Its a long process...I'm about halfway done and already logged a lot of hours on her. I have to do the job at work since I live in an apartment and the rules ban any auto work in their lots. Because of this I only get to work on it a few days a week. Usually 4 hours 3 days a week.

Here are some pics of the part of the frame I painted last night. Took the wheels off to hit the frame up and some random other stuff

We lifted the Jeep with a fork lift by the frame which didn't allow me to paint the middle piece of the frame between the two wheels, its very obvious. But I will finish that off today. I'm getting close!
