I'm so pumped to be joining this forum.
I've wanted to buy a Wrangler for over 20 years (since my Junior year in high school) and have *finally* gotten to the point where I am in the position to do so. After some searching around off and on locally for a couple of years, and reading lots of posts here on WF, I landed on my parameters for my first Jeep. And then finally on Monday sealed the deal and drove MY (!!!) Jeep home.
It's a 2013 JK Sport in Rock Lobster with a Sunrider soft-top. Bought it with 27k miles on it, no mods other than rock rails, for $23,7k. Dealer says the previous owner is a Coast Guard guy and mostly commuted with it. It's like new in almost every way.
As a newbie to Jeeps, Jeeping, and off-roading, I didn't want to buy a Jeep with mods on it. I wanted to (a) start from scratch, figure out what type of build/mods I want to do, if any, and (b) have confidence in any mods by knowing who did what, and know it was done properly. I had wanted to spend less on my first Jeep but everything I found in a lower price range had too many miles/were too worn out. I had also wanted a Rubicon but again the prices/miles were out of range of what I was looking for. So, I decided to go for the Sport and spend a little more money for a bit of starters peace of mind.
I'm already in love with it (it's been two days) and fantasizing about all of the things I want to do with it (mods, accessories), and places I want to go off and on-road.
I have really appreciated and benefited from all of the wisdom and helpfulness folks in this community freely share. I'm looking forward to learning more from everyone here and hopefully being able to contribute to others' learning where/when I can.
