I've wanted a jeep since I was a teenager, and finally got around to getting one on Monday. I've been browsing this site for a few days now and thought I would join as there is great information here and I'm sure DH and I will have questions.
Here's the jeep! It's a 2004, only one owner, still have all the stock parts in boxes to where he made modifications. It was towed from Spokane WA down to AZ every winter (and really only driven there) and has only about 25k driving miles, the rest towing miles for a total of 45,010. It was never driven in the snow or rain until we got it. It's like brand-spanking new inside, still smells new even. PO put a sweet soundbar and a 12" sub in it, my teenagers are dying.
Those are the pros. The con is it's only a 4cyl. Sigh....BUT-- I had to drive way the hell and gone from my house to get it and took two freeways to get home, have driven it a couple more times on the freeway, and I don't find it to be that much of a slug at all. Yeah, it's ain't the '65 Mustang I learned to drive in but I think it will be fine.
DH and I do a lot
of backpacking in Western Montana and that is mostly what I'll use it for. My job isn't that far away (I bike there and back in good weather often) so I will drive it daily. I was of course opting for a 6cyl first, but this just looked so good we couldn't pass it up.
Feel free to tell me your thoughts, good and bad.
