First Jeep Wrangler 2008 - Having Issues

Hi Everyone!

After 20 years of dreaming about owning a Jeep Wrangler, I finally was able to make that dream come true on 4/4/14! And then within a few days the trouble began. I am a single female and don't know diddly about mechanics and such. My Jeep (named Summer) is 4 door unlimited X. I got her up on the highway for the first time and when I hit 50 mph it started shaking violently. It's under 60 day warranty. I brought her back in, and they said the tires were out of balance. Got on the highway again, and started shaking again. Brought her back, and they said they re-aligned her. Got her on the highway again, and started shaking again. Brought her back in and they called Jeep dealer (I purchased from a Chevy dealer) and they said to replace the steering damper. They picked up the part from Jeep and Chevy replaced it. Got her back on the highway and it didn't happen right away, but eventually she started shaking again. My Jeep is now with the Jeep dealer and they said there was a miscommunication and there is a better "high performance" steering stabilizer that should have been used which they say corrects the dreaded Death Wobble! Only reason I found out that it was the Death Wobble was from Google. Chevy just seemed baffled. My concern is that I've read it could be the track bar, tie rods, bolts, cupped tires, one bad tire....the list seems to go on. My warranty ends on June 4th. I need to make sure this problem gets fixed!! It's ALSO popping out of 1st gear. They replaced the shift boot and it's SITLL popping out of 1st. I haven't even made my first payment yet, and all this has already gone wrong!

I'd love any advice anyone has to offer!!!

Thank you!

Summer Girl

If the Chevy dealer can't help, you may want to ask them to let you take it to a Jeep dealer. There is a cervice bulletin on the vehicle popping out of first gear, they had to replace the gears on mine.

Because this is the newbie check-in area, you may not get the answers you are looking for. I suggest you check out this forum area and post your questions there, I think you'll get a better response.
