First Time Jeep Owner
First Time jeep owner, long time truck person. Long time lurker,
there is just tons of information on this site. For a newbie, I can see
how it can be OVERLOAD. But if I have learned one this its, this jeep
world is endless with unlimited options. So I hope to do a slow build as
I got a jeep that can go in more places then I ever have with a Tacoma.
My Jeep, 2014 2 Door Rubicon, ANVIL, hardtop. Bought new Feb 28th
2014. I live in Western Washington but I drove to Kellog ID and purchased it at DAVE SMITH MOTORS. Its got everything but NAV.
And it stickered for 38K, of course D.S Motors has heavy discounts, hence
I drove 5 hours to go get it. They had a huge inventory, and my local
snobby jeep dealership was >
A. had mostly 4 door's
B. Would not Deal.
I got heated seats, AUTO, Block Heater, ( they order all there jeeps with Block Heaters ) Power everything, 130N radio with subwoofer ( not impressed with sound at all ).
I have my first MODS waiting at home to be put on once I return from a
Quadretec floor mats, front rear and Cargo,
SMitty Built MOD bumper with full wrap and bull bar, ( Not Stinger ),
and WARN M8000S Synthetic Rope WINCH
Looking fwd to that since I have no experience or tool set up, so
looks like its time to go shopping for tools for this job, or find a shop.
Would be good to do it myself so I can learn about this rig, mostly
worried about hooking up the winch, but I am sure there is a thread
in here somewhere.
I plan on a slow build. I really got this jeep to use on the weekends, it sits in the garage waiting for weekends. I got tired of getting stuck or turning around on narrow washington Forest Roads or not being able
to get up a lot of them to the exotic Hiking Trails year round. I am convinced I can now get up any of them. So I got this jeep to get deeper into the Mtns, crossing streams in the road, crawling over Trees after
Pacific NW storms that turn all the subaru's and wanna be SUV's back to Seattle.
Glad to be on WF !!!!! Hope to meet Local Members in the woods!!
Picture is in snow storm driving home from Idaho, 6 hours, 3.5 hrs
was in 4 HI. So much for waiting for the 400 mile break in period.
FYI I learned that I have tons of traction, but the Rubicon Sticker
doesn't help S____ when you hit ICE in the Columbia River Gorge
on the freeway. I plan on having a second set of tires for winter
with DURATRACS. ( Anyone selling stock RUBICON Wheels in Washington? )
