First Wrangler From Arizona!

So my wife and I just moved to Arizona from Ohio (we're loving it!) thanks to me getting a job about a month or so ago. We got rid of both our cars and consolidated to one as she's not working.

I've always liked the Jeep Wrangler, mostly thanks to my severe obsession with Jurassic Park as a kid. That and my dad owned one a few years ago (I believe it was an 05 or 06, before the redesign). I've had the unfortunate luck of owning an 05 Xterra in the past that was built about as well as a Ford Pinto (seriously, dont even consider this "8K mile clutch" poor excuse of a truck).

My father and I took a road trip before we moved to Arizona, where we went to see the Detroit Auto Show. It was actually pretty disappointing (not the show, but the offerings from the industry), only walking away impressed with Audi's new line, the Tundra, and the Wrangler. In fact, I was so pleasantly surprised with the Wrangler we didn't even test drive anything else when we went "looking" for a car. As a nice side note, the new Cherokee was abysmal. I don't think I've seen such a cheaply made Jeep since the first Liberty was sold.

ANYwho. We went to the dealership, and the guy asked what I was looking for. 4X4, no electronic anything, black in color, tinted windows, T/A tires, good shocks and preferably nicer rims. He took me to the first Jeep... and it was perfect.

It has manual locks, manual windows, a stereo, tinted windows, great shocks, black rims, T/A tires, 4X4, and it was even in black.

I will say this. I've actually never owned an American vehicle. I was raised to believe foreign cars were always the best, and I can safely say that this is the most solidly built, quality vehicle I've ever owned in my life, and I've owned a lot!

So without further stalling, here is the black beaut. I can't wait to go on the trails, and if anyone wants to join me here in the Phoenix area, just let me know! I've already visited South Mountain, and I'm just itching to get her on the sand and dirt.

Can't wait to start posting here, though I'll be doing very few modifications. She's good as is, and I can't wait to have some fun!

I think I'm also the first member to have a bloody typo in my screen name. Way to make a good start...

Can't wait to get back in my "Jeeg", sigh...

Contact one of the forum administrators (JDsDream, 4Jeepn, distortedTJ) and they can change your screen name. Sorry, I can't do it as a moderator.

In the mean time, I just like to say . . .

Welcome to the forum!

Welcome from right next door in Scottsdale (aka I can throw a rock across the street and it will land in Phoenix lol!). Congrats!

Google Arizona Virtual Jeep Club and join the board there (free!). I believe that is the largest Jeep club in Phoenix area. There are literally runs every weekend and some weekdays-all you have to do is post up "add me in" and show at the meetup location. If you are new to offroading, look for runs like Crown King (every big obstacle has a bypass-a stock Jeep will make the bypasses) or Tip Top Mine or Box Canyon (a stock Jeep can make this too-just two mild obstacles you can clear just following the spotters direction). I think Four Peaks may be easier too-havent run that so dont quote me on it. Also for a very easy trail to get your feet wet, Bloody Basin Road.

There are also lots of meet and greets-on AZVJC board they are trying to do a North Phoenix one in April sometime. Show up, meet folks, checkout their rigs and eat.

This Saturday at Buffalo Chip Saloon in Cave Creek is a monthly rock and ramp one of the best local offroad shops does. Raffle, rocks to play on with the jeep, food etc. I plan to go-been to the last few and had fun.

I am originally from Cleveland. Don't have to shovel sunshine dude! PM me if you want more local info.

Thanks for the help! I just contacted one of the mods, so hopefully that'll be fixed real quick. I really appreciate the help. Have a good one.

Wow, thanks for the help. We love Scottsdale, but Gilbert was closer to work (really pretty town as well). Ha, another ex-Ohioan! Yeah, I'll send a PM your way and hopefully we can meet up at a trail or meet sometime. I'll go join those forums and I'll check out that event at Buffalo Chip Saloon and hopefully I'll be able to make it. Oh, and the North Phoenix one as well.

I can't wait to get out there. I think I'm going to love this state. And hey, no potholes and salt! Win, win!
