From Michigan...BEST day ever

Hey everyone... I'm from Ann Arbor, MI and I have never been more excited about anything in my life.

I've wanted a Jeep since I was....well... I think the day I was born. Here I am 30.... and yesterday I FINALLY did it. I ordered a 2015 Sahara, tank green, manual, soft top. I can't wait for it to get here.

I had some questions, probably stupid/embarrassing....

I'm not that great at shifting the 2015's I've been driving. I saw a couple threads on shifting, but to be totally honest I'm not that great at searching forums. I end up spending literally hours reading posts that never talk about what I want to know.

SO, questions:

#1. Are there any posts on how to search the forums?
#2. How do I shift this thing without riding the clutch, or "bouncing" into first and second?
#3. Is it ok to go from gear 1, to 2, and then straight to 6 at around 40 MPH in an effort to get decent MPG's?

And the 2 most important questions....

#4. Would it be acceptable to tell the dealer I want to spend a day driving a Jeep around town to get used to it before mine gets here?
#5. How can I find out if I'm getting a good deal on my Jeep? Like I said it's a sahara, tank green, manual, soft top, only added options are an engine heater and connectivity. I paid $30,169 OTD.

I have a million other questions about how to take care of it, what a new Jeep owner needs to know, good/bad mods...all that stuff...but I will just read through posts for the next couple years for all that haha.

THANKS and I can't wait to join the Jeep family!

Because this is the newbie check-in area, you may not get the answers you are looking for. I suggest you check out this forum area and post your questions there, I think you'll get a better response.

The transmission shifts like a truck.
Clutch in, pull out of first (Click) pull into second (Click)
Click click is about half second. about the time it takes you to say click click.

It's not a sports car, its not the smoothest nor shortest throw out there.

I doubt a dealer would let you take one out for the day. But we have enough dealers in the area, go to one you didn't order from, say you're interested and would like to take a test drive.
Drive it for a bit. Thank them and get a business card (for affect) the go to the next dealer and repeat.

Nice thing about the Drive by wire throttle, you can slowly let out the clutch without touching the gas and not stall it.
