Future who knows what owner

I'm here for different reasons than normal I'd guess.

I want a 4 door Wrangler (new preferred). But more so that I can go cruising with my family (kids are now 8 and 10) and create memories. I want something that can go topless but I don't want a convertible. That leaves a new Jeep, or older Jeep/Bronco/Jimmy as options. But I want new.

Oh, I need to get mountain bikes on it to, but a hitch mount and Thule combo solves that. (Part of the reason that I don't want a convertible)

I have some issues. Fuel economy. I think this is going to replace my F-150 as a daily driver. Fuel economy is similar but the new F-150s are starting to get impressive fuel economy. I see that he 2018 Jeep Wrangler is going Aluminum so that's a plus.

This is a personal thing. I'd probably want a nice stereo in whatever I get. Any advice on issues with having a potentially wet interior and securing things like amps and subwoofers?

I'd probably be living with a stock solution. I don't have any interest in actual offroading. I hope I don't offend people saying this. Is there anything I can do to save money up front by going with an entry level Jeep and going with aftermarket upgrades or should I just go OEM right off the bat?

My wife can't drive standard so that's not an option.

When to buy?:
These things are more expensive than I thought they should be for a new model. Are there good times of year to buy or times when new models go for less? Find a slightly used Wrangler that someone regrets buying? IS that even common?

Buying new:
I always buy new on a strict budget. I am for the first time considering used (2 years old, 20K miles type of old) just to get the initial cost down. Any sweet spots that I should consider?

After reading about the next gen Wranglers (aluminum, etc) I might hold off for a few years. Truthfully, the timing will be better. And hopefully, they do something about hte back seat which I read only bad things about.
