Greeting from the South Jersey Pine Barrens.

Hey folks.

Relatively new Jeep owner here, although I did have a 2007 Liberty at one point but Im not sure that counts, and have just discovered this forum in pursuit of upgrading my 2013 Wrangler.

Great place you've got here and Im grateful that it exists!

Looking forward to absorbing lots of knowledge here!

I'm about 10 minutes from the south end of Wharton (about an hour from you) - can you recommend any "easy" scenic trails up by your area? (not to hijack, gotta figure Player 1 will be interested as well!)

I usually go through Bass River. They have some nice trails that are pretty wide. I have heard of trails in my area but haven't been down any. Unless I know it's not private property I would be very careful. Most of the ones I use to go visit when I was younger have been blocked off and now have no trespassing signs.

I also usually get a beach pass for IBSP.

Tuckerton area here: My lady and I hit trails, heading south usually, all along Rt 539 and Rt 72. Have found small trails that meander along and bring us out around, and sometimes right in, Batsto Village park. Tons of trails throughout Wharton and Greenwood Forest. Good weather starting now...have seen deer, coyote and a black bear or two down here. Have no problems driving anywhere: Long as the Jeep is registered/insured, the rangers won't bother you. Very little actual "Private" property we have come across..usually around the Rod & Gun clubs and the Hunting lodges. Never had an issue from anybody...maybe see y'all out there!

Thanks! I'll have to check out Bass river - was planning on getting beach pass for Brigantine (it's closest) - so many options

I did Quakerbridge from Atsion to Batsto a couple times last year - mostly saw other friendly Jeepers, few hikers/bikes, & only one or two creepy lurker types -Lol! I have yet to see any animals - that is so cool! I'll have to bring my camera next trip just in case!

LoL! Yea...there are some real weirdos out in the Pine Barrens...Homeless types who make nasty campsites, religious whackos who do animal sacrifice and have pentagrams all over and stuff...Check out the Weird NJ | Your Travel Guide to New Jersey's Local Legends and Best Kept Secrets site and read the kind of stuff you can encounter in the Pine Barrens.....
