Bought my first Jeep this week. I've had pickups, 1970-72 Buick Gran Sports and turbo V6 Grand Nationals my 30 years of driving so be gentle when I ask stupid Wrangler questions.
It's a 1994 SE 4-liter automatic. Never had anything 4-wheel-drive so that whole system is new to me too. I did test it out before buying it and it seems to work fine. It's my daily driver so I have to keep it in one piece during the week.
This old gal's got 147k on the odometer but it seems to run great. Plenty of torque and a nice exhaust leak to go with it. First on the list to fix.
Next I'll need to add a tow hitch to pull my teardrop around. Total weight's 1000 pounds or less so that shouldn't be a problem from everything I read.
Not a big fan of the chrome front bumper and grille cover so those may get the boot.
Just put new tires on it and got an alignment yesterday, drives a LOT better. Still a little "wander" that sounds like it might need a new steering box to fix.
Overall it's in pretty good shape. I'll be kept busy replacing seatbelts, fixing door locks, aligning the tailgate, fixing an oil leak, and replacing seals everywhere.
Rusted old hex bolts are not going to be fun, are they?
