greetings from Canada eh!

Hey guys and gals, very happy to be here and introduce myself!

After years of dreaming, I picked up my dream vehicle that is a 2004 TJ sport manual (with the Rocky mountain edition trim, woo Dana 44 rear!) This weekend and am overwhelmed with joy!

Right off the bat I have many questions and a strong desire to learn. I have taken a mechanics class years ago but my skills are basic with a good understanding of theory and lack of practice (in other words, I'm an armchair mechanic lol).

I'm situated in the greater Montreal area and would be glad to meet up and get to know the community!

As for the questions, I'll start right away..

I went on jeepslimited for a factory service manual and they had for the year 03 and 05, which is most compatible with my tj? I want to do as much work as I can myself but have a limited budget and buying a 120$ book is steep.

I picked up the vehicle with a smittybilt soft top and it leaks! Any pointer areas to check out? I'm planning on picking up a hard top used until I can afford a new quality soft top.

As for a build, she will be a modest one until I pick up the next jeep! Here's what I have planned at the top of my head:

Discreet sound system
Old man emu 2inch lift
32" tires
Bull bar
Winch
Recovery points in the rear
Rocker guards with side steps(the lady is on the short side!)
Rust proofing to make sure she lasts as long as possible
Plates for the underside (transfer case, transmission, fuel tank, the shebang)

This is my daily driver for the long foreseeable future so I want to keep her.mild to moderate. I don't plan on going crazy off road but I like the great outdoors and want to go wheeling.

Any suggestions and guidance is appreciated, looking forward to meeting you all!

Welcome to the site! I'm just down the hwy from ya. You likely won't get much in the way of answers here as this is just an intro forum. We have a Canada forum as well as a TJ forum where you can look for answers and ask questions for anything you don't find. The site is nicely broken up to assist folks in accessing the type of info that they need.

Enjoy your Jeep and enjoy the site! Oh, and wave to the other Wranglers!

Believe me I do wave at every wrangler I see! Shame some won't wave back even if they see you.

I head down to Ottawa often, and have lived there for 7 years! Let me know if you come down or have a group wheeling going on!

Because this is the newbie check-in area, you may not get the answers you are looking for. I suggest you check out this forum area and post your questions there, I think you'll get a better response.
