Hello and introductions...

Hello everyone, new to the forum guy here...

A little bit about myself: New to Wranglers, but not new to Jeeps. I've worn out two Cherokees in the last thirty years (ya, I'm an old fart) and finally got myself a nice 1999 TJ. I use my Jeeps as daily drivers, which includes skid roads and dirt paths out in the boonies. My other rig is a 1999 Suburban, that I use for extended trips into the hinter-boonies. Unfortunately, it has a blown transfer case at the moment...

Hobbies are camping (expedition style), fishing, hunting and collecting and shooting military surplus and esoteric firearms. Want to learn how to reload cast bullets for a .45 x 2 1/2" belted express rifle, with paper patched bullets?

I'm a Navy Vet from back when Nuc's were cool and before Destroyers had airplane engines...

I'm married with two wonderful daughters and two grandsons. Don't get me started on the family, you don't really want me to go to bragging on the daughters. I sleep with my hunting partner. The wife is my hunting, fishing, camping and shooting buddy as well as my spouse. We've been married a long time and like to do pretty much the same things. The hardest thing is keeping her paws off my Jeeps.

Looking forward to learning lots on the forum, and maybe sharing a little where I can.

You all are welcome. Lots of Vets out there who served as well, I'm just one of many. We owe it to each other and our Country to serve if we have the time, aptitude and talent. The family has served since 1679, though there was the little matter of one of the ancestors serving on the British side during that altercation about 1776 or so. Youngest Daughter found that out doing research prior to going to Army OCS.

Anyway, the TJ is back to stock, except for the wide flares. The plan is to change / upgrade, as required or things break, and see where it leads. So far, the TJ goes places in 2wd that the Bourbon won't in 4wd. Added 4 tow hooks, two front and two rear, so far. Also eyeing a way to put the five gallon jerrycan on the back. The tale of the tape tells me that there is enough room between the tail lights for a jerrycan and a new 30" tall spare tire. That means a modified swing out spare tire carrier, which means a... And the Saga begins.

The design and build philosophy is maximum reliability, minimal weight, maximum utility and frugal.

Thanks for the welcome folks!
