How ya'll do?

I had a YJ in the early 90's and a Cherokee after that till about 96 until I went to trucks. Anyhow, wife misses the old jeep and wants another one as a weekend/trail truck to drive around town with the top off. I want something that I can go hit the trails with AND sleep in the back of. The compromise looks like one these newer 4dr models.

I used the search, didn't find much.

Anyone sleep in the 4dr model? Any pics of the setup? It would just be me sleeping in the Jeep. 6'1" tall so it looks like it might be tight. If she ever comes to the mountains with me, we will sleep in the motorhome.

Welcome To The Forum

Ever consider a tent? jk. I really can't answer your question. I can sleep in the back of mine but I'm only 5'2".

I've probably slept in a tent over 500 times in my life. I don't like to let weather dictate what I do with my life. Tired of tents. The Cherokee was great for sleeping in it. The last 2 trucks I've had I put shells on the back and that works perfectly. I was in New Mexico in Oct. I have an 08 Tundra now that I haven't put a shell on yet. So I just grabbed the tent and went light. First night there, at around dusk, I saw a bear cross the road about 75 yds from my camp. Vision's of that recent gruesome bear attack on those people in a tent just wouldn't leave my mind. I slept in the truck. I also have a motorhome that I sleep in when we have a family deal. I usually just solo most of the hardcore stuff I do. I usually go for a week or so at a time and cover a lot of ground. It's nice to just find a semi level spot and bust out the chair and start a fire and start sippin' Beam.

Also, this is a compromise vehicle for the wife. I need it to do multiple functions. Looks like an Unlimited TJ might work. Certainly will be cheaper than the 4 door one's.

You might be able to get away with a TJ Unlimited, but the JK Unlimited would offer you more room.

Welcome to WF.

Never slept in one, but yes, the JK Unlimited would be your best bet
