Howdy from the Texas Hill Country

I am new to this forum, but not really new to Jeeps. I'm retired military and dove several M151 1/4 Ton Jeeps throughout my career. When I came in form the field I would tell my lovely bride about how much fun I had driving those Jeeps. It was a sad day when we turned in the last of our Jeeps for HWMMVs.

Over the years my wife and I talked about buying a Jeep. Well, in 2003 after my military retirement we found an 03 Jeep Wrangler TJ Sport. It was the last 03 on the dealer's lot. We both knew immediately we had found our Jeep.

The plan was to "share" the Jeep since this was the third vehicle for the two of us. It would be strictly for weekend and vacation use. Did I mention it is bright yellow, my favorite color, and we bought it right around my birthday?

The week after bringing it home I had to travel to Abilene for my new job. When I returned at the end of the week my wife told me how everyone at her office really liked "her" Jeep. After reminding her it was "our" Jeep for several days, she looked at me and said, "Why don't we go buy you your own Jeep?"

It didn't take me long to find a used green 2000 Jeep TJ. This one had enough differences to justify (in our minds) the purchase. We were both ecstatic.

Jump forward to 2007 when Jeep released the Wrangler JKU. My wife was really excited about the extra room inside and it still being a Jeep Wrangler. I hatched a plan, I would trade in my 2000 Wrangler and the 03 would become mine. She agreed.

Now nine years later she still drives her 07 JKU and I still drive my slightly modified 03 TJ. the modifications are a 4" lift, AIRAID cold air intake, Warn winch, rebuilt transmission, Banks Monster exhaust, LED headlight and tail lights. A roof rack, and a couple more minor modifications that slip my mind.

I enjoying reading the TJ forum and learning things. Such as where to buy the little LEDs to replace the burned out instrument bulbs.

Welcome to the forum and Thank you for your service. Having a TJ and a JKU is the best of both worlds.
