I did it. Giving Chrysler a chance.

Hi all, long time Jeep lover/ owner here but they have all been AMC vehicles going back over the last 20 years or more. While I sat back and enjoyed the dependability of my daily driver Japanese SUV's the last decade or so, I always liked the newer Jeeps but had reluctance from some very bad experiences with one of the wife’s Chrysler cars. It was a down right POS and I never really felt that Chrysler was going to get my hard earned dollars if they didn’t get their crap together. Well after much waiting I finally pulled the trigger, went back American, and just bought a 2011 Cosmos Blue Unlimited Sahara. It was only actually owned by someone for 9.5 months and is like brand new. It is a 6 speed, and just received a new 3inch BDS lift and 35x12.50 Mud Grapplers on 20in Black Rhinos. I knew I wanted a 2010 or newer when I started shopping and really wanted a 12, but this is what I ended up with. Having driven a 12 I can def feel the difference but the 6speed does help. I think after a re-gear I am going to be all set. I must say that I am very pleased with the build quality so far and have been having a blast driving around in it. It’s definitely not a CJ7 with all the amenities, but I must say that’s probably OK with me. Must be my age catching up with me. Lots of great info here and I'm excited to be here to read through all the vast knowledge.

Regarding the AMC era; I once owned a 1978 Cherokee. (360, Quadra-Trac) It was one of the worst vehicles I'd ever owned.

Now, I've had my '97 TJ for half a year and I'm loving it so far.

I definitely get it. Nobody will put AMC up there with Honda in terms of world class quality. I had a 78 CJ7 that was a daily driver for about 6 years of the 12 I had it. It had a heavily modifed 304 that had me wrenching on the valve train about once ot twice a year & 6 inches of lift that made it ride like a brick. Out of over 40 vehicles I've had over the years (everything from Vettes to Mustangs, & Chevy, Ford and dependable Japanese trucks) That old AMC CJ was by far my most favorite vehicle of all time. And its not even close.
